So recently I have been Playing about with the sewing machine. Learning quite a bit everyday and its very fun. Although I cannot remember how many times i have rethreaded the bloody thing. I have started to make some cuddly plush creatures which Im having fun playing around with, Im planning on making a few flip books to go with them so they soak up some narrative, The flip books are next on the list of things to do, Im thinking of doing them in Adobe Flash as I can imagine it will be much easier in compositing the images together to get a smooth transition in frames.

So recently I have found myself drawing very anatomically, Im finding it quite pleasurable to draw Muscle mass and skeletal features. They havent lead anywhere yet….. But I have some large plans for these bad boys!

Radiohead never fail to be the most innovative band . Here they are again with there newest video House of Cards. The video is shot without any light or cameras, But uses a LiDAR devices to plot the scenery via a laser. Therefore images aren’t used just data correlations. There is also an interactive 3d viewer of the video in which you can zoom in and pan around the scenery/video and Thom Yorke’s Face. It loads quite slowly but its definitely worth a look…..

The wonders of Sin City.

So today I finished the entire of Sin City, a series of comics by Frank Miller, told in comic book form in a film noir-like style. The first story originally appeared in Dark Horse Presents comic book from April of 1991 to June of 1992, under the title of Sin City, serialized in thirteen parts. Several other stories of variable lengths have followed. All stories take place in Basin City, with frequent recurring characters and intertwining stories.

A movie adaptation of Sin City, co-directed by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller with “special guest director” Quentin Tarantino, was released on April 1, 2005. The Sin City graphic novels were reprinted with new covers and in a reduced size to coincide with the motion picture’s theatrical release. Rodriguez has expressed a desire to begin filming two sequels back-to-back starting late 2006/early 2007 for release sometime in 2007 and 2008.

My personal favorite from the series is the hard goodbye, Frank Miller acclaimed for his “nitty gritty” storytelling definitely shines in this addition. The graphic novel follows Marv. A Huge beast of a man, almost 7 feet tall with a flat top hairstyle that fits well with his chiseled features. Marv has an incredible level of strength and incredible fighting skills which allow him to bring down anyone who stands in his way or stops him doing something. In the second edition from the series ” A dame to kill for ” Marv is remarked by his good friend Dwight as “most people think Marv is crazy. He just had the rotten luck of being born in the wrong century. He’d be right at home on some ancient battlefield swinging an axe into somebody’s face. Or in a Roman arena, taking his sword to other gladiators like him.”

ROA Street Art

Stumbled across a street artist named ROA today on the Wooster collective website, And what can I say. I think his works are amazing, So been digging around for information on the rogue ROA and found that he is from belgium and doesnt normally do much work outside his home country ( at least not that I have found ) but hes done some amazing work in New York, Belgium, London and more…
Roa paints animals, usually in black and white, and sometimes includes their skeleton or internal organs.

Above Is a ROA piece in that hit london a few days ago, Its Painted on a warehouse door. ROA has incorporated the concertina folding shape into his design. You can consider this piece to be 1 of 2. Judging by what angle you look at it you will see a different image each time. From the left angle you can see the rabbit in all its glory and from the right you can see the black silhouette of it, showing all its capillaries and veins that make up its blood system.

Was shown this today so i thought I would get it out there for people who havent seen it allready. Its called “youuuutuuube”, This trusty little add-on lets you put tens, even hundreds of youtube videos into rows & columns creating a visual experiance. Its like youtube has taken some magic mushrooms. The most impressive video of all is the one that made this add-on famous.

Went to Clwb Ifor bach tonight, Well technically yesterday but who cares. Did some still life drawing of some characters mainly trying to capture there motion as they were moving to the music. Was quite a fun experience as I have never drawn anyone in that type of situation. Found the most effective, quick and simple way to sketch these out was with a dip pen and a brush pen to add shades and contours. Used a simple outlines for the dancing/movement of the body and a variety of techniques for the facial expressions that they were giving off at the time.
